We just added some new content to the PBB YouTube channel. In this video, we discuss Madelyn Gould's 2005 study that debunked the myth that assessing for suicide risk is dangerous and likely to increase depression and/or thoughts of suicide (click here to read our full article).
Greeting folks. I have posted two new videos on the PBB YouTube channel. On a high note, my film making skills improved to the extent that I now fit in the picture, but on the down side, I overshot the YouTube 10 minute limit by a long shot and had to divide the video up into two parts. The videos are an overview of my critique of the Shedler article. As always, the material on YouTube is much less detailed than our writings here. They simply mark an attempt to reach another group of folks less inclined to read the site but still interested in thinking about this stuff.
As always, we welcome your thoughts but please keep them civil. Even if you disagree vehemently, we can still discuss this without resorting to accusations, name-calling, and the like. Enjoy!
We have uploaded a new video on our YouTube channel. In this one, I discuss the new study published in JAMA that calls into question the utility of antidepressants for individuals with mild to severe depression.
Our YouTube channel continues to take shape and yesterday I uploaded our first video. It's a bit rough, but it is simply a short introduction to PBB itself and the goals of the YouTube component. Future videos will discuss more specific material regarding mental illness, psychotherapy, and related topics.
Traditionally, brown bag seminars are informal lunchtime meetings held by researchers to update their colleagues on recent research findings. Psychotherapy Brown Bag attempts to serve a similar function, posting new information around lunchtime and hoping to foster intellectual conversations about research topics in an informal setting. The brown bag lunch is optional!
