The Society for a Science of Clinical Psychology (SSCP) is one of my academic homes and a driving voice behind the use of science to guide our conceptualization and treatment of mental illness. This year, SSCP is beginning a new initiative that Joye and I think represents a truly valuable contribution to the field and those in need of help: a Virtual Clinical Lunch.
Each month, SSCP will post a talk online featuring a prominent scientist discussing one or more topics related to the SSCP mission. The idea is to disseminate the material widely and then for graduate programs, clinicians, and those in need of help for mental illnesses to listen and share their thoughts across various forums. Additionally, the scientist featured in the monthly talk will take and respond to questions on the SSCP listserv in the weeks following the posting.
This month, SSCP has launched its initial talk, featuring SSCP President-Elect Steve Hollon, Ph.D. discussing whether the effects of CBT are enduring or transient. I'm certainly looking forward to listening and hope that you will not only do so as well, but that you will also send the link around broadly (social media, email, etc...) so that we can maximize the number of people who benefit from the material.
Always great to see some of the field's brightest minds reaching out to a wide audience with a message of clinical science!
